Zero Waste

Let’s talk about Zero waste

Does Awapuni school take Zero waste seriously?

without a doubt I agree, that Awapuni school takes the Zero waste topic seriously. And I think, that the rest of the Awapuni school
students, should believe that they take the topic serious as well.
Here are my most strongest reasons why Awapuni School take Zero waste seriously.

Reason #1, is the Green team. First of all, the Green team looks after our school environment and makes sure every single classroom is looking like it’s best. They make sure that our rubbish bins aren’t too full. And if the bins ARE full, They will encourage us to make sure that we clear our bins everyday or a few times a week. The Green team also make sure that our outside porch area is cleaned, for example, we have to keep our bags and shoes tidy, that way it’s easier for us to move around outside our class. The Green team grow trees in our garden, and we look after those trees that were planted. Because further effects if not looking after trees would lead to more carbon dioxide flying around the air, and carbon dioxide could cause global warming, which is why Awapuni school chooses to look after trees, the environment and our community. I also think that leaving orange peels on the ground is a great thing to do, so the orange skins can decompose.

Secondly, is about the Council. The Council is trying to help the entire of Gisborne become plastic bag free. Room 3 even tried convincing them that this IS a good idea, by sending them letters of persuasion. Awapuni school is also cooperating with this idea by finding simple ways to not create a terrible plastic mess. The council help by composing fruit and veggie scraps. Awapuni

school do the same. There’s just one issue, that the Council is causing, and that is cutting down trees. Cutting trees lead to more chances of the global warming effect. So, to help Gisborne and the world a better environment, we could stop chopping down trees, or at least do it occasionally.

Finally, is our wearable art creations. The entire of Team pango, created wearable art made out of Reducible, reusable, and recyclable items. This just tells that we can take care of Zero waste effects. To support this, we are reusing objects, that people might throw away, and creating something new out of
them. Many people found ways to use newspaper, fabric, and other items we could be throwing away!

All my statements should tell you that Awapuni school does take zero waste seriously. I want you to ask yourself the same rhetorical question I asked, Does Awapuni school take zero waste seriously? I’ve already answered this for you, all you need to do is pick a side. The whole of Awapuni should now understand why we are careful around this topic.
