 Success Criteria

For this art task, we were told to create a custom Waka, adding special features and creating a successful canoe. This task was involved around our voyaging, and Tuia 250.

About My Creation

My Waka was based off of things I liked, and although some details aren't visible in picture-form, many details were constructed into the design of my Waka. Others went for many themes (e.g Music Themed, Cartoon Concept or a Basic Waka). The shape of the Canoe I chose was inspired by a quarter moon, or a crescent-like shape.

Colors Of The Waka

The color-scheme I chose for my Waka had no basic storyline, I just went with the flow, but tried to make the colors seem fitting with each other.

What I Enjoyed, Found Challenging, & What I Can Do Next Time

I was drawn to creating the design in general, lots of thought and creativity was required for this activity and it was fun, yet challenging to come up with a proper, sturdy concept. I found picking out my color scheme difficult, although I intended to "go with the flow" with my coloring, during the time when I was picking out my color scheme, I found it difficult to find the first color I would use on my design. What I could do next time, is to try not to restart a lot, per-se. I restarted quite an amount of times, wasting paper, therefore wasting trees. I think it would be better if I started with a defined plan to enhance how successful the design would be.

Extra Information

The process of making this took around a week, due to restarting numerous times. I included phrases on my Waka, such as: VIVID, Fancy You, 둘 중에 하나만 골라 Yes Or Yes, 다들 Blah Blah, I see That I'm ICY, I'm the Bad Guy .. Duh, and ￥500. The phrases seem cringe-worthy (Most likely the Billie Eilish Phrase if i'm honest), but these phrases all come from things I like. E.g the ￥500 comes from Japan.
